    City Council Tuesday voted down an agenda item that would ask the El Paso Municipal Police Officers Association to return a $10,000 donation by former District 4 City Representative Carl Robinson. Robinson, who could not run for re-election because he was termed-out, donated the $10,000, allocated from his office's discretionary funds, to the police union shortly before he left office.
    Man tried hitting motorcycle police during pursuit, resisted arrest, officials said

    One man was hospitalized for injuries he allegedly sustained while resisting arrest after a police pursuit, officials said Thursday morning. The man, who has not been identified, was allegedly speeding on Interstate 10 westbound near Artcraft Road, El Paso Police Department spokesman Sgt. Enrique Carrillo said.

Detective Aumen served the El Paso community as a peace officer for 28+ years.  He joined the El Paso Police Department in January of 1946 and retired on April 21, 1974.

      Last Friday, a class of 30 Cadets (2017-Delta) graduated and are now training on the job.  Last Monday, a class of 32 cadets (2017-Echo) started and we are expecting approximately 30 more cadets for 2017-Fox-Trot in just over a week on July 31, 2017. That’s approximately 90 new officers by October 5, 2017.

    The parking garage at El Paso police headquarters is not safe, according to El Paso Police Department union president Ron Martin. A few years ago, a fire truck fell through the top level of the garage, according to Martin. “Worst case scenario, you have a vehicle fall off the upper deck of the parking garage, lands on somebody or kills somebody underneath,” Martin said.

    An off-duty Border Patrol agent stabbed outside a far east El Paso bar has died, police said. Isaac Morales, 30, was leaving a bar early Saturday when he was confronted by 39-year-old Hisaias Justo Lopez, who is accused of stabbing Morales to death with a knife.
