The Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial was dedicated on May 13, 1998. Governor
Bob Miller, hundreds of state dignitaries and law enforcement officers from around the
state, and Tom Ely, who was at the time the President of the State of Nevada Peace Officer's
ceremony is held at the Memorial to honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

This memorial to Nevada's slain law enforcement officers was built through private Bob
Miller, hundreds of state dignitaries and law enforcement officers from around the
contributions. The fund raising effort was led by the Nevada Conference of Police and
Sheriffs. THIS MEMORIAL RECEIVES "NO FUNDING" FROM ANY GOVERNMENT
AGENGY. The maintenance and up-keep is also paid by private contributions. The
Memorial Commission is headed by Frank Adams, historian.

The NSLEOA is proud to make a yearly donation to the Nevada
Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. The memorial is located on the
Capitol grounds in Carson City, Nevada. It is a solemn location with
hundreds of visitors a month. The memorial is a place that all Nevadans
serve and died in service to our communities and citizens throughout

this great state.
Each year in May, Nevada's law enforcement officers make an Olympic type run from Las
fallen officers (103 names as of 9-1-08). The baton is symbolic of the life the fallen have
given for our safety and that they will always be remembered.
at the Memorial which is attended by hundreds of law enforcement officers, widows and
orphans of the slain officers as well as dignitaries and the public.
The ceremony itself is an honor to watch and includes: Presentation of the colors, Bag
pipes, 21-gun salute, Laying of the wreath, Speeches, Prayer, Reverent songs, Riderless
horse, Finalized by families of the fallen laying carnations on the Memorial and Taps.

In 2006 our $2,000 contribution was presented to Governor Guinn by NSLEOA's
Senior Vice President Richard Linton & NSLEOA Director Alan Barthuly on behalf
of the NSLEOA.
The NSLEOA donated the tee shirts for the Memorial
Runners.
The NSLEOA presented Trooper Kara Kelly Borgognone's husband Dirk a
check for $2,000 and NSLEOA President Ron Cuzze & Regional Director Jim
Mercado presented a $5,000 check to the Memorial, accepted by Frank
Adams, Memorial Historian.
As of today (9-1-08) there are 103 fallen Nevada Officers.
